Dr. Dietrich Kayser Completes 100th Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement at Rutherford Regional
October 27, 2026
Rutherford Regional Health System is celebrating a significant milestone after board-certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Dietrich Kayser completed his 100th knee replacement procedure using the CORI Surgical System. Dr. Kayser reached the milestone just over a year after performing the hospital's first procedure with the technology.
The robotic-assisted approach to knee replacements allows the surgeon to map each patient’s anatomy and tailor the surgical plan to their individual needs. The technology supports precise planning and execution while the surgeon remains in control throughout the procedure.
For patients, this personalized approach can mean less pain and a smoother recovery, helping them return to everyday activities sooner. Recovery is different for everyone, but many patients go home within 24 hours, and some leave the hospital the same day.
I'm thrilled to bring this advanced technology to our community and offer patients the best tools available for knee replacement right here at home," said Dr. Kayser. "It gives me real-time feedback to refine implant positioning and knee balance. I've been very pleased with how well our patients have been recovering. Helping people get back to the activities they enjoy is the most rewarding part of what we do."
"Reaching 100 procedures is a meaningful achievement made possible by the dedication and expertise of our orthopedic, surgical, nursing, rehabilitation, and support teams," said Sudandra Ratnasamy, CEO of Rutherford Regional Health System. It also reflects the hospital's continued growth of our surgical program and our commitment to ensuring patients can access specialized and advanced care close to home."
