Rutherford Regional Health System is pleased to welcome Amanda Karatchoun, M.D., and Jacqueline Solt, M.D., to its growing team of providers. Both board-certified general surgeons will be serving patients throughout Rutherford County and the surrounding region, increasing access to high-quality surgical care close to home.
“We are proud to welcome Dr. Karatchoun and Dr. Solt to our growing team of talented providers as we continue expanding access to care across the region,” said Sudandra Ratnasamy, CEO of Rutherford Regional Health System. “Their expertise and dedication to patient-centered care will be a tremendous asset to our patients and our community.”
Dr. Amanda Karatchoun specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive and colorectal conditions, including colonoscopies and endoscopies. Her clinical interests include gallbladder disease, anti-reflux procedures, minimally invasive surgery, and hernia repair.
"I believe every patient deserves compassionate, individualized care close to home. I'm excited to join Rutherford Regional and help patients navigate their surgical needs with confidence, comfort, and the support of a trusted local healthcare team."
Dr. Karatchoun earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. She completed her general surgery residency through the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Jacqueline Solt provides comprehensive surgical care for adults and seniors, treating a wide range of conditions through both traditional and minimally invasive techniques. Her expertise includes colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures, gallbladder surgery, colon and anorectal procedures, breast surgery, and open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted hernia repair.
"Building relationships with patients and helping them understand their treatment options is one of the most rewarding parts of surgery. Rural surgery has always been one of my passions, and I'm so excited to start serving the people of Rutherford County in that way.”
Dr. Solt earned her medical degree from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee. She completed her general surgery residency through the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina. During her residency, she also completed a month-long international elective in Uganda, where she gained valuable experience providing surgical care in a resource-limited setting.
Having trained in western North Carolina, both physicians are excited to return to a community-focused healthcare environment where they can build lasting relationships with patients and families while providing specialized surgical care closer to home.
Dr. Karatchoun and Dr. Solt will be seeing new patients at Rutherford Surgical Associates, located at 330 U.S. Highway 108 in Rutherfordton. To schedule an appointment, call 828-286-1743 or visit MyRutherfordRegional.com/find-a-doctor.
