Cancer Services
Learning that you or a loved one has cancer can be overwhelming, you are not alone!
Recent statistics indicate that nearly half of all men and a third of all women in the United States will experience a cancer diagnosis within their lifetimes. Whether you experience cancer personally or through a friend, coworker or family member, nearly everyone is touched by cancer.
Next Steps
The thought of cancer is frightening but recent developments in the early detection, targeted treatment and management of side effects has drastically improved the outlook for cancer patients. Across the board, cancer deaths have dropped by 20% since 1991. Even more promising is the 40% decrease in mortality rates for prostate cancer and 30% decrease for colorectal, female breast and male lung cancers. In other words, there has never been more hope for patients to live longer, healthier lives as cancer survivors.
Diagnosis
It’s not unusual to feel overwhelmed, scared, helpless, or alone when diagnosed with cancer. Learning about your diagnosis is the first step in becoming involved in the treatment decisions to come. Rutherford Regional Health System offers the Cancer Resource Center as a one-stop location for information about your diagnosis, treatment options, and helpful resources for you and your family.
