Wait Time for Patients

Why are you waiting?
We are making sure...

  • Paperwork and pre-registration is complete and correct.
  • Your lab reports and all other preparation work is in order for the doctor to review before your surgery/procedure.
  • The rooms where you will have and recover from your surgery/procedure are clean and have all the necessary supplies in them.
  • There were no unforeseen delays with other patients in the surgery/procedure area where you will have your procedure.
  • We have enough time to properly prepare you for your surgery/procedure before it gets started.  This includes administering IVs and any other physician orders we must follow before your surgery/procedure begins.

What to do while you wait?
If you are the one having the surgery/procedure...

  • Write down questions for your doctor on your complimentary "Questions For Your Doctor" pad.
  • Read a favorite book or magazine.
  • Work crossword or Sudoku puzzles or other activities to occupy your mind.
  • Engage in a quiet time (meditation, prayer or relaxation technique)
  • Bring a laptop computer with you to occupy yourself with games or work (be sure you have someone who can secure your laptop while you are having your surgery/procedure)
  • Bring your iPOD or MP3 device and listen to music using headphones only. (Please be sure you have someone who can secure your laptop while you are having your surgery/procedure).
