RUTHERFORDTON – Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS) will showcase The Birth Place in its medical center with an Open House on Saturday, September 12, from 9 a.m. until noon. The event also will feature a Baby Fair that will provide resources for expecting and new parents.
The Open House will allow visitors to tour The Birth Place on the main level of the hospital. Obstetrics and pediatrics physicians will be on hand during the tours, as well as Birth Place nurses and staff. Guests will see labor and delivery rooms, view post-partum rooms and the nursery, see the fetal monitoring system, and visit stations set up throughout the unit. Those stations include staff discussing: Lactation and Breastfeeding, Birthing Positions, Childbirth Classes, Couplet Care, Gestational Diabetes, Epidurals and Anesthesia, Pregnancy Massage Therapy, and Newborn Photography, among others.
On the lower level of the medical center a Baby Fair will be held simultaneously in the Norris-Biggs Conference Room, located near the Outpatient entrance at the rear of the hospital. A number of local services and agencies will be on hand to provide information, education and resources for expectant or new parents.
There is no cost to attend and visitors are asked simply to drop in at their convenience. A free gift will be given to all who tour The Birth Place. Light refreshments are provided and visitors may register to win several gifts that will be raffled after the event.
