Rutherford Regional was proud to honor Dr. Bobby England on July 28 for 53 years of providing sports physicals to Rutherford County student-athletes. Held at McNair Field prior to the Forest City Owls game, the event featured approximately 80 area coaches, fellow physicians, Dr. England’s family and RRHS leaders. The gathering was highlighted by remarks from Brad Teague of Rutherford County Schools, Terry Hines of RHI Legacy, Mayor Steve Holland of Forest City and RRHS CEO Rebecca Segal.
Segal presented Dr. England with a plaque to commemorate the occasion and his years of service, and Mayor Holland presented Dr. England with a proclamation that declared July 28 “Dr. Bobby England Day.” In addition to his remarkable career as a physician, Dr. England has served as a member of NC House of Representatives from 112th District 2003-2011, as a board member of Rutherford County Schools and Isothermal Community College, and as medical director for the local EMS until 2015. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina.
