November 19 All-Day Event Planned at the Medical Center
RUTHERFORDTON – Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS) is helping individuals enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace, which opened November 1 and runs through January 31. Certified counselors are on site at the hospital and RRHS will hold a public event on November 19 to assist those looking for their best option through the Marketplace.
The event will be held in the Norris Biggs Classroom, which is adjacent to the hospital’s outpatient entrance, from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on November 19. No appointments are necessary and individuals will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Penalties for those who do not have health insurance coverage will increase in 2016 and individuals have through the end of January 2016 to compare and choose the most affordable and comprehensive healthcare coverage that best meets their needs. In 2016 the penalty for being uninsured will rise to either $695 or 2.5 percent of taxable income, whichever is greater.
Counselors advise those attending the November 19 event to bring information with them that will ease the process, including: information about your household and who will need coverage; social security numbers; and employer and income information for every member of your household, among others.
Counselors are available at 828-286-5221 to answer questions about what you should bring to the event to enroll.
Rutherford County public transportation is partnering with RRHS to ensure that community members can attend the event. Appointments can be made for a public transportation vehicle to transport individuals to the November 19 open enrollment event at RRHS by calling 828-287-6141.
In addition to the November 19 event, RRHS reminds the community that it has counselors available each day from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. to assist with enrolling in the Health Insurance Marketplace. Call 828-286-5640 to make an appointment anytime during those hours through January 28, 2016.
