We appreciate our volunteers at Rutherford Regional and would be honored to welcome you as part of our caring team.

Front Desk Volunteers help make hospital visitors feel welcome with a personal greeting and a smile. They cheerfully provide information and directions. Volunteer shifts are 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Gift Shop Volunteers oversee a wide array of gift items including balloons, jewelry, stuffed animals, flowers and much more. The Gift Shop is one of the Auxiliary’s major fund-raising projects located in the front lobby and open seven days a week. Volunteers may choose to work morning, afternoon or evening shifts. Couples or friends often work together.

Messenger Volunteers deliver mail and flowers to patient rooms as well as distribute magazines to waiting rooms. Messenger Volunteers provide this service from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Intensive Care Waiting Volunteers assist family members with information, telephone service, escort service to the Intensive Care Unit and provide a listening ear for those who just need a friend. Volunteer shifts are 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Surgery Waiting Volunteers provide families with updated reports on surgical procedures and perform miscellaneous duties for the surgical staff. Volunteer hours are from 8:00 am to “until,” Monday through Friday.

Toy Chest Volunteers meet monthly to sew and make stuffed animals and small pillows for young as well as elderly patients. The Toy Chest meets at Rutherford Regional the third Monday, nine months of the year from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

Outpatient Waiting Volunteers provide escort service for patients and perform miscellaneous tasks for the Outpatient staff. Volunteer shifts are 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Cross-Trained Volunteers are encouraged to work in more than one area. Cross training is available for all services so those volunteers who do not wish to work a regular schedule may provide back-up services for regular volunteers.
