Teen Volunteer Program

The Teen Volunteer Program at Rutherford Regional is held each summer and is open to high school students.  In order to take part, teens must have maintained a good school record, have good references, express an interest in a medical field career, be dependable and willing to accept responsibilities, be capable of working independently, be available most of the summer, and have a flexible schedule.

Teens can volunteer in many areas of the hospital - as nurse helpers, radiology transport assistants, clerical assistants, as a laboratory helper and in the dietary and outpatient areas.

Teen Volunteers are required to attend a two-hour orientation.  Volunteer hours are from 8:00am to 12:00noon and from 12:00noon to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.  The program lasts eight weeks.

The Teen Volunteer Program offers teens in Rutherford County an opportunity to receive on-the-job experience and may also help them decide what area of the medical field they'd like to focus their education and careers.  With permission, teens may continue to volunteer on teacher's work days and holdiays during the school year.
